Hannah is a Jewish girl after the war. She lives a normal life. She has a little brother named Aaron. He gets a lot of attention from the rest of the family. Hannah has one aunt, though, that does seem to care about her more than her brother. Her name is Aunt Eva. Hannah goes to her house with the rest of her family with her family during the Passover. Hannah didn't even want to go, but her mom knew how much Hannah's grandfather loved the family, so she made her go. Hannah's grandfather has so many memories from the war. He gets angry when he sees pictures on the TV.
Hannah's grandfather is very proud of his identification tattoo from the war. When the war pictures showed up on TV, shook his arm at them and shouted, "Give 'em this!"
